How to make glitch text
- Enter your text. Type or paste your text in the Your text box.
- Set the strength. Choose Low, Medium or High, and tick where the marks should go: above, through or below the letters.
- Copy the result. The glitch text appears in the Glitch text box. Press Glitch again for a new random version, then press Copy.
What is glitch text?
Glitch text is text that looks broken or corrupted because marks are stacked above, through and below each letter. It is also called Zalgo text.
The effect is made with Unicode combining marks. A combining mark is a character, such as an accent, that is drawn on the letter before it. Normal writing uses one or two per letter. Glitch text adds many, so they pile up and spill over the lines around them.

How strong each level is

The marks are chosen at random, so the same text gives a different result each time. Spaces and line breaks get no marks.
Why the result may not look right
- The marks are cut off or missing. Some apps remove combining marks or limit how many a letter may carry. Try a lower strength.
- The text covers the lines around it. That is how the effect works. High strength spills the furthest.
- The message is too long to send. Every mark is a character. At high strength one letter can become more than 20 characters, so a short text can pass an app's length limit.
- It looks different on another device. Each font stacks the marks in its own way.
- The text stops growing. The box takes up to 2,000 characters.
