How to make strikethrough text
- Enter your text. Type or paste your text in the Your text box.
- Pick a line style. The Line styles list shows your text crossed out and underlined in six ways.
- Copy and paste. Press Copy next to the style you want, then paste it in your post, bio or message.
What is strikethrough text?
Strikethrough text is text with a line through the middle of the letters. It shows that something was removed, corrected or is no longer true, while the words can still be read.
This tool makes the line with a Unicode combining mark. A combining mark is a character that is drawn on top of the letter before it. One mark is added after every letter, so the line is part of the text and stays when you copy it.

Spaces and line breaks get no mark, so the line has a small gap between words.
Why the result may not look right
- The line is broken or sits too low or too high. Each font draws combining marks in its own way. The same text can look different in another app.
- The line is missing. Some apps remove combining marks. In such apps, use the app's own formatting if it has one.
- The text counts as longer. Every letter is followed by a mark, so the text has twice as many characters. This matters where a character limit applies.
- The text stops growing. The box takes up to 2,000 characters.
