How to make a URL slug
- Enter the title. Type or paste the title in the Title or text box. Put each title on its own line to convert several at once.
- Set the options. Keep the hyphen as the separator. Tick Remove short words if you want a shorter slug.
- Copy the slug. The slug appears in the Slug box. Press Copy and paste it in your page address.
What is a URL slug?
A URL slug is the part of a web address that names one page. In the address example.com/blog/how-to-bake-bread, the slug is how-to-bake-bread.
A good slug uses lowercase letters and digits, with hyphens between the words. It has no spaces, accents or special characters, so it works in every browser and is easy to read and share.

With Remove short words on, these 18 words are dropped: a, an, the, and, or, but, of, in, on, at, to, for, with, by, from, as, is and are. If a title has only such words, they are kept.
Why the result may not look right
- The slug is empty or has missing words. The text is in a script that is not Latin, such as Arabic, Hindi, Russian or Chinese. The tool keeps only the letters a to z and digits, and it does not transliterate other scripts.
- A word you wanted is gone. Remove short words is on. Turn it off.
- The slug is very long. The tool does not cut the slug. Shorten the title, or delete words by hand.
- The text stops growing. The box takes up to 100,000 characters.
