How to write upside down text
- Enter your text. Type or paste your text in the Text to flip box.
- Check the option. Leave Also reverse the order of the letters on, so the text reads correctly when it is turned around.
- Copy the result. The flipped text appears in the Upside down text box. Press Copy and paste it where you want.
What is upside down text?
Upside down text is text that looks as if it was turned by 180 degrees. It is made by replacing each letter with a different Unicode character that looks like the flipped letter. For example, "a" becomes "ɐ" and "e" becomes "ǝ".
The letters are not really rotated. They are other characters that look rotated, so the text stays upside down when you copy and paste it.

Anything else, such as letters with accents, other scripts and emojis, stays as it is.
Why the result may not look right
- Some letters do not look perfect. Unicode has no true upside down version of every letter, so a few capital letters and digits use the closest look-alike.
- Empty boxes appear. The device or app that shows the text does not have that character.
- The text reads backwards. That is the reversed order. Turn the option off if you only want flipped letters.
- The text stops growing. The box takes up to 100,000 characters.
